Well known lawyer and politician Michael Andrew passed away at age at 71, on Friday 15 March.
Andrew became a public figure when he was elected to represent the constituency of the St David in 1990 as a candidate for the Nicholas Brathwaite led National Democratic Congress administration which governed the island from 1990 to 1995. He served as Minister for Health and Housing.
Former senator Norton Noel who served with the same administration remembers him as very outspoken and controversial minister. “He was not afraid to tackle issues that other hide from. He was also very patriotic and very conscious about the need of Grenadians.” He is also a former president of the now defunct Bar Association of Grenada (not to be confused with the Grenada Bar Association).
Funeral service will be held at the Roman Catholic Church, St. David, on 02 April 2013 at 1:00 pm. Interment at St. David’s Cemetery.
He is the second Member of Parliament for people of St David to have died in 2013. Michael Dennis Lett, who represented the people of St David for the Tillman Thomas administration, died in January.
