Nowgrenada.com is the recently launched news website bringing up-to-the-minute daily news in sports, politics, business, community and entertainment from around Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
At its official launch on Friday, 1 March 2013, its founder, Nigel Mathlin, announced that nowgrenada.com is looking for both budding and seasoned journalists who are balanced, have a good command of English, and can tell a story in an impactful way.
“We are delighted to be launching nowgrenada.com. We recognise the need for a comprehensive news website that is well designed and with a daily stream of reliable information. We are looking for contributors to join nowgrenada.com at this exciting, embryonic stage. This website will have a ‘grass roots’ approach to reporting and we expect our journalists to immerse themselves into the community and bring the local and social stories that really matter to people.”
“Of course nowgrenada.com will be reporting the regular news, and we hope to bring you the big stories first, but our goal is to develop a platform where entire communities can discuss and share information. We want to encourage critical discussion and engaging debate and to help find solutions to the key issues affecting Grenadians today.
“Eventually our plan is to provide an on-line resource to support community workshops as well as developing mobile access for tablets and smart phones.”
Nowgrenada.comEditor, Linda Straker added: “The world does not shut down on the weekend, we will provide daily, reliable news seven days a week, 365 days a year. We are definitely filling a gap in the market, people want constant, reliable news on a daily basis. The more than 1,180 likes recorded on Facebook and the 5,000 unique visitors to the website so far prove that we are on the right track.”
“Our aim is for people to come to us first before they go anywhere else. We want people to save nowgrenada.com in their favourites so that it is their first point of reference at the beginning of their day.”
Additional nowgrenada.com staff members include Marketing Executive, Christine George; Web Developer, Conny Herrmann; and Lead Graphic Designer, Kurt Cummings.
Journalists wishing to join the team are asked to forward a sample of their work to email@example.com. The team is particularly keen to hear from writers in the areas of Sport, Youth and Lifestyle.
