Thirty persons from fifteen CARIFORUM countries will be attending the first meeting of the Technical Implementation Group on Conformity Assessment, which will be held in Grenada on 26–27 March 2013.
The two-day meeting which will take place at the Grenadian by Rex Resorts is the first coming together of the technical group, whose task is to set the framework for establishing a Regional Conformity Assessment Programme that will guarantee the quality, safety and reliability of regional products to customers.
The meeting is part of a 10th EDF (European Development Fund) Project aimed at supporting beneficial integration of the CARIFORUM States into the world economy, and is being implemented by the Caricom Regional Organization for Standards & Quality (CROSQ).
“The ultimate goal of this part of the Project is to develop a regional framework for certification which will serve as a mechanism to facilitate the trade of products — inter and intra regionally through the mutual recognition of Certificates of Compliance and a single mark of Conformity,” said a statement from the Grenada Bureau of Standards.
