The Grenada government to provide more financial aid to churches and other religious groups.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon Keith Mitchell, who was attending a special service on Sunday last at the St George’s Baptist Church (SGBC) in Belmont.
The service was in celebration of participants involved in studies at the National Leadership Training Academy that was founded by SGBC Pastor, Stanford Simon.
Prime Minister Mitchell told the congregation that additional financial assistance for religious-based organizations is aimed at allowing them to help deal with problems affecting the nation’s youth.
Details, he said, will be provided in the budget that will be tabled in parliament on 16 April.
The PM, speaking in an interview after the service, said young people look for guidance from adults, who must provide appropriate leadership and be seen as not just talking but also “walking the talk’’.
“Everything that happens in our lives, God has a fundamental place in that. He gives us the strength, the power and the ability to make decisions that affect our lives and other people’s lives,” Dr. Mitchell said.
As Prime Minister, Dr. Mitchell said he looks to God for guidance to ensure the decisions he makes are in the best interest of the people.
The featured speaker at Sunday’s SGBC service was Pastor Arthur Blackett, who urged Grenadians to pray for the good of our country.
