Thirty-eight second-year students of the T. A. Marryshow Community College left the island today to begin their internship at the Crane Residential Resort in Barbados. The students were selected from the following programmes: Hospitality Studies, Culinary Arts, Electronics Engineering Technology and Refrigeration & Air conditioning Technology.
While on the internship, the students will have the opportunity to gain certification through the internationally recognized American Hotel and Lodging Association examinations. The College and students have been raising funds to support this programme. Last month a gala dinner was held for corporate Grenada. Currently, a raffle is being promoted for a three-night stay for two at the luxurious Crane Resort (inclusive of airline tickets). The students and College administration wishes to express its gratitude to the public and private sector organizations for their support of the internship programme. All students within the School of Applied Arts & Technology are required to complete an internship in order to graduate. The Crane Internship will run from May 3 until August 6, 2013. This is the third year of TAMCC/Crane Resort partnership.
The T.A. Marryshow Community College was established on July 1, 1988 to provide accessible quality tertiary education and training opportunities in the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Its primary purpose is to help individuals achieve their personal and professional goals, and to effectively respond to the changing needs of the national, regional and global communities.Â
