A match that was considered a decider as the two teams enjoyed victories in all their previous matches — one had to lose yesterday, Wednesday 16 October, when they faced each other at the Beausejour Playing Field.
It was Defending Champions Convent St. George’s who came out triumphant defeating Happy Hill Secondary 2–0 to move ahead in the Standings in Group A and qualified for the Semi Finals of the Republic Bank RightStart Cup Youth Football Tournament. Both teams had to play without their star-studded players as Cherese Hood who has already scored 26 goals (HHSS) and Roneisha Frank 34 goals (SJCSS) were set to travel the same day with the Grenada National U–20 team to Jamaica.
The other match played in Group A, featured Anglican High School who trounced JW Fletcher Catholic 12–0 at Tanteen.
In Group B. The lone match played featured a derby between St. Rose Modern Secondary and St. John’s Christian Secondary at the Cuthbert Peters Park. St. Rose Modern Secondary won 3–0 to register their first victory in the Tournament after three (3) round of matches.
The Republic Bank RightStart Youth Football Tournament involves only Secondary Schools and is played in two categories: Boys and Girls. The Boys Category consists of two (2) Divisions: The U–16 Division has four (4) Groups whereas the U–21 only two (2) Groups. In the Girls Category, there is only one (1) Division consisting of two(2) Groups. The top two (2) teams in each Group will advance to the next stage of the Competition.
