Terry Hillaire, who contested the St Andrew North East seat for the National Democratic Congress for the 2013 General Elections, has been charged by by the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) for hurting a young man from his community.
Hillaire was charged with wounding after a report was made to the Grenville Police station by a young man who claimed he was attacked by Hillaire following a confrontation he had with another person.
Hillaire is presently on EC$2,000 bail.
A person knowledgeable about the matter, said that there was a scuffle between the victim and another young man in Hillaire’s shop, which is located in the rural community of Tivoli. In the process of finding out the reason for the scuffle, Hillaire attacked the young man with an instrument. The incident is said to have happened in February, but the RGPF laid the charges at the conclusion of their investigations.
Hillaire is scheduled to return to court on 24 April 2014.
