A total of US$15,000Â was awarded to five children of police officers, under the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP)/Motorola Scholarship Program.
The awardees, Karelle and Janelle Lewis, Nehanda Parkes, Andrea Baptiste and Darrel Noel, are amongst the 10 winners of the 2014 scholarship program. It is the first time ever that Grenada participated.
The Motorola Solutions Foundation/ACCP Scholarship Program is committed to providing financial assistance to the children of police officers or support staff who have an interest in a college education, and are unable to provide or acquire the necessary funds to continue their education at a certified college or university either within the Caribbean region or colleges or universities that are associated with the member countries in the Caribbean (i.e., the United Kingdom, Canada or the United States).
The five winners were selected from a total of 24 entrants (between the ages of 16–25 years old) and will each receive $3,000 US dollars towards their university education.
Acting Commissioner Winston James, in presenting the cheques to the parents of the children, on behalf of ACCP/ Motorola Solutions Foundation, congratulated each of the winners.
