The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA), will join together with several other entities, and spearhead a National Cleanup exercise on, 5, 6 and 7 June 2015. This activity comes at the beginning of the 2015 Hurricane season, and is being conducted in an effort to encourage citizens to participate in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities.
The agency is seeking to build partnerships for DRR and to raise awareness of the need to reduce litter. This will decrease the population of pests and rodents and reduce possible flying debris during high winds.
All schools will participate in the Cleanup on Friday, 5 June. The following days; Saturday, 6 and Sunday, 7 the general population will join, and clean at the community and household levels, from 6–10 am. The Cleanup will include garbage collection, trimming of over hangings and clearing drains.
NaDMA encourages all citizens to participate in this national activity, as the agency seeks to build partnerships for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
