More than a dozen Health Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Chief Medical Officers and technical staff from Pan American Health Organization Eastern Caribbean Countries are in Grenada for a one day meeting.
The meeting is taking place at the Flamboyant Hotel in Morne Rouge, St George, and is considered the forerunner for the upcoming 54th Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization 64th Session of the Regional Committee for the Americas, which will take place in Washington DC, from 28 September to 2 October this year.
Grenada’s Health Minister, Hon. Nickolas Steele; Permanent Secretary, Javan Williams; and Chief Medical Officer, Dr George Mitchell, are all present at the meeting to help advance Grenada and the Region’s health agenda.
Today’s meeting of PAHO/WHO ECC Member States gives participants the opportunity to highlight matters of importance, lobby, prepare and co-ordinate their participation, and to speak with one voice at the upcoming meeting in Washington.
Throughout the day’s meeting participants will review the Directing Council’s procedures and discuss the agenda for the 54th Directing Council.
