The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development hereby informs the public of 75 scholarships from the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, which was recently announced by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The Government of India offers full sponsorships for all successful applicants of the scheme. These funded scholarships are reserved specifically for applicants from Commonwealth member states.
Created to offer training; share expertise and best practices with member countries; to build capacity; transfer technology and develop human capital, facilitating long-term, sustainable growth, the ITEC Civilian Training Programme has been running successfully for over 50 years. It forms an integral part of India’s development partnership and cooperation with the developing world.
The Programme trains nearly 5,000 participants per year. There are 47 premier institutions conducting 280 unique training courses of short, medium and long durations in diverse fields such as audit, banking, information technology, telecommunications, management, SME/rural development, renewable energy and other specialized disciplines.
The Commonwealth Secretariat welcomes applications from interested, eligible individuals. Applicants should contact [email protected], stating their nominating authority and their course(s) of choice. As there are limited places available, applications should be submitted as early as possible. Individual deadlines and eligibility criteria may apply to each course.
To apply and for further information, interested persons should see Third Country Programmes.
Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Social Development, Deodat Maharaj, encourages Commonwealth member countries to take advantage of this excellent opportunity. He believes this bilateral technical cooperation will help to build key skills and technical capacity, therefore leading to increased national capacities in developing countries of the Commonwealth.
