Police are warning parents and guardians to be on lookout for marijuana-infused confectionery.
In a recent police operation, 2Â locals were arrested and charged after they were found to have in their posessions, edible marijuana fudge.
Keron Noel, a 36 year old welder of Harvey Vale, Carriacou, was caught with 24 pieces of cannabis fudge; while Kevin Ramdeen, 28 years old of Telescope, St Andrew, was found with 16 pieces.
Parents are being urged to be on the lookout for any edible marijuana treat, since many of them are in the form of sweets, cookies, cakes, candies, etc., which may be very appealing to children and teenagers. These treats can look like regular treats, and parents are further urged to be particularly vigilant since the Holiday Season is fast approaching and many of our children are expected to be on vacation soon.
Edible marijuana treats can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect. It is very easy to overindulge when eating something which is sweet and tasty. Ingesting multiple servings within a short time can also lead to unusual reactions including intense anxiety and paranoia. It can also be fatal.Â
