The Minister for Labour on Tuesday, 7 June, facilitated a meeting between the Ministry of Health, the Secretary to the Cabinet and the Department of Public Administration, with the leadership of the Public Workers Union, who were joined by the president of the TUC and representatives from the Grenada Nurses Association.
The key outcomes of the meeting were that there will be a further meeting between the PWU and the Secretary to Cabinet and the DPA to be held on Thursday, 9 June and that until then, and for the rest of the week, there will be no further industrial action on the part of the Union. Government also agreed to put a stay on the engagement of nurses through an agency.
Government is hopeful that by Friday, 10 June, a satisfactory resolution will be achieved that will inform the way forward.
