According to Senator Simon Stiell, Junior Education Minister in the Ministry of Education, Batch 5 of the IMANI Programme contains 250 new recruits.
He said the Government will be using these young persons to engage in public education about the upcoming Referendum, which is to be held on 24 November 2016. The purpose of this is to ensure awareness is raised about the 7 Bills to be voted on.
Senator Stiell confirmed that the IMANIs will not be telling persons how to vote, instead they will be educating persons, and guide them through the voting process. If persons have complex questions they will be referred to the Constitutional Reform Advisory Committee (CRAC) Secretariat. The last date for registering to vote in the Referendum was 1 November 2016.
