Hon Elvin Nimrod, MP for Carriacou and Petit Martinique, has announced that he will not be contending the upcoming general election.
Nimrod, currently the Deputy Political Leader of the New National Party (NNP), first came into politics in the early 1990s when he ran independently. He served in the political arena under the NNP for approximately 18 years.
According to reliable sources, Hon Nimrod informed the executive of his decision on Wednesday 24 May 2017.
The voting process will soon commence as Attorney-at-Law, Kindra Mathurine-Stewart and Senators Norland Cox and Simon Steill vie to represent the sister isles and replace Minister Nimrod.
Hon Nimrod is expected to make a public statement soon.
