At approximately 11 am on Tuesday, 30 May 2017 at the area popularly known as ‘Saigon’ in Grand Anse, passersby and residents were left shaken up after gunshots were fired, leaving 1 man nursing wounds at the General Hospital.
According to sources, 2 men pulled up in a vehicle and fired shots, allegedly aiming for a particular individual, however, the bullets missed the target and hit another.
Although details of the incident are still sketchy, Head of the Community Relations Department (CRD) ASP Sylvan Mc Intyre said the police currently have 2 men in custody assisting with the investigations.
Mc Intyre stated that the issue of illegal firearms is a problem and it is “not something we take lightly.” He also mentioned that the ‘Saigon’ area is famous for illegal activities. In recent times, the police have been making drug raids in that area.
To date, no charges have been laid in relation to the shooting.
