Monday, 6 November 2017 Excel, London saw thousands of industry professionals, media and country representatives converge on the Excel Exhibition Centre in the London Docklands UK, for the World Travel Market (WTM); the leading global event for the travel industry.
Many travelled thousands of miles and many hours to attend the event, which approximately 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries and regions and over 50,000 participants, made up of travel professionals, key industry buyers, journalists, digital influencers, students and tourism ministers from around the world. The estimated business income generation for the show is expected at over £2.8 billion of business contracts, negotiated between attendees.
After not having a dedicated stand at the event since 2014, Grenada is back at the WTM, with the Pure Grenada brand, happy to send a strong message that the island’s tourism product is growing from strength to strength, proud of its unique ‘Spice of the Caribbean’ positioning, and open for business.
The decision to participate at the WTM is agreed as a costly financial undertaking, however Grenada has also had to consider the cost of not being visible at a show of this magnitude. Being present raises individual and travel industry awareness of Grenada as a desirable location for vacationing and investment opportunities.
CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA), Patricia Maher, Chairman of the GTA, Rodney George and GTA Marketing Manager, Francine Stewart, worked tirelessly alongside the UK based Grenada support team led by Sharon Bernstein, to ensure a busy vibrant and welcoming stand throughout the 3-day event.
Publishers of Lime & Dine Grenada, Carriacou & Petite Martinique, AllyDay Creative Projects were represented by Dayliah Henry-Dabreo, at this year’s WTM. She commented, “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our magazine’s 10th anniversary and the Spice lsles, than by being present at this show. Our company has attended the show for the majority of our 10 years in business. We are very happy at Grenada Tourism Authority’s and the Ministry of Tourism’s decision to give Grenada a ‘face’ at this prestigious trade show. Our role here is to support our country’s product and the shareholders in the industry, especially those who have been able to contribute and be present on the stand.”
The Grenada Tourism Authority was supported on the Pure Spice Stand by Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Grenada Tourism Authority, Kalinago Beach Resort, Ministry of Tourism, Mt Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club, Silver Sands Resort, Spice Island Beach Resort, True Blue Bay Resort, during the show’s duration, 6-8 November 2017.
