Measures announced to protect National Stadium track

Opening of the Grenada Athletic Stadium on Saturday, 23 January 2016

The Ministry of Youth and Sports informs all schools whose annual athletic meet is carded to take  place at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium, that they would be allowed to use the track for their march-past under the following conditions:

  • Students can only use soft-soled shoes to march.
  • The track can be used for marching only on the day of the respective sports meet and not for practice sessions.

These measures have become necessary to protect the running surface at the stadium.

This is the most ludicrous thing i’ve heard since… well last week! Having a sports track that schools can only use for marching but not sports day or practice! I’ve never participated in a sport anywhere, where i’m not allowed to pratice on the actual match ground first.
