- Teachers return to work on Friday
- St David’s Catholic Secondary School students will protest tomorrow in solidarity with teachers
Teachers will remain home on Thursday as their protest action for a 25% gratuity payment continues. President of the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT), Lydon Lewis confirmed that teachers will return to the classroom on Friday.
This is the third week of protest as public sector unions including Grenada Technical and Allied Workers Union (GTAWU) and the Grenada Public Workers Union (PWU) have joined forces to protest against the government’s 2% gratuity offer.
Lewis says this action will continue until the government puts in writing that they are in agreement that gratuity will be 25%.
Meanwhile, NOW Grenada understands that students of the St David’s Catholic Secondary School will be staging their protest tomorrow, Thursday, in solidarity with teachers. It is unclear whether other schools will follow suit.
