NAWASA Invests in Certified Training Courses

The National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) continues to raise the bar for its employees in the area of certified qualification.

Fourteen (14) employees attached to the Production and Quality, Transmission and Distribution and Finance Departments (Customer Services and Commercial Units) will benefit from an investment of $55,000 made by the Authority. This will result in successful participants acquiring a higher level of technical skills and becoming certified plumbers at a level three (3) standard. A level three standard is equivalent to an Associate Degree.

On completion in November 2013, employees will be awarded the Caricom Vocational Qualification (CVQ) and a certificate of competency from the college. The CVQ certificate will allow persons greater portability throughout the Caribbean region.

Head of the HR Department Mrs. Pansy Ventour says, “the course is one of nineteen training programmes offered to employees, geared towards improving staff as well as organisational capabilities.”

In 2013, NAWASA has earmarked EC $252,000.00 for their Staff Development and Training Plan with the objective of building workforce capacity to adequately meet the challenges confronting the organization.
