Today’s activity features endorsements from the Prime Minister — Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, Government Ministers and private sector officials in a united effort to stop the Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases Epidemic in Grenada.
The Health Ministry and its partners are offering an array of health services including health screenings, counselling, healthy foods packs, exercise and wellness demonstrations and a cultural presentation as part of the Wellness Fiesta package.
The public is urged to be a part of the Wellness Fiesta which was scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
Caribbean Wellness Day, known as the Port-of-Spain Declaration emerged from the 15 September 2007 — Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Trinidad and Tobago. That special Regional Summit was aimed at addressing Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
(Caricom) believes that “Uniting to Stop the Epidemic of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases in the Caribbean,” is the best way of addressing CNCD’s and its related burdens.
