The Foreign Minister thanked the Government of Grenada for their “eternal support of Cuba, especially as it relates to the blockade.” His Excellency reassured Prime Minister that Grenada continues to be a priority country for Cuba in the region.
Prime Minister Mitchell, for his part, expressed his immense gratitude for the assistance that Cuba has given to Grenada over the years in many different areas; including healthcare, education and in the construction of our international airport.
The Prime Minister further expressed to the Foreign Minister that while he does not wish to burden Cuba’s existing challenges, he does believe that “there is a dire need to establish an MOU between the two countries, which will be designed to provide access to healthcare and specialized treatment for our poorer local citizens, even if Grenada has to incur some of the costs.”
Foreign Minister Rodriguez Parilla is in Grenada to attend the Caricom/Cuba ministerial conference, which will be held tomorrow, Friday 6 September.
