The Grenada Bureau of Standards will be collaborating with the Caricom Regional Organization for Standardization & Quality (CROSQ) and the German Metrology Institute (PTB) to stage a three day training of trainers’ workshop on the CALIDENA Methodology for improving competitiveness of a Value Chain.

This methodology was developed in Germany to identify and implement practical activities that can strengthen the quality infrastructure of a value chain in order to increase competitiveness on the international market. It is now widely used in various parts of Europe, Asia and Latin America and is being introduced to the Caribbean for the first time.

In Grenada, the Nutmeg Value Chain has been selected to do the first training of regional facilitators in the CALIDENA Methodology from 13 to 15 November 2013 at the Flamboyant Hotel and Villas commencing at 9 a.m. on each day.

A field trip will be held on Thursday during which a nutmeg farmer, a processing plant, a value added facility and a laboratory will be visited.  Following this an action plan for strengthening the quality infrastructure of the Nutmeg Value Chain will be prepared.
