A young Grenadian-Canadian is celebrating victory in the junior segment of an international pageant held in Toronto.
Makeda Joseph–Brereton, 8, was a participant in the annual Miss Teen and Junior International Dance Talent Pageant that carried more than $10,000 in cash prizes, scholarships and special awards.
As Miss Grenada, Makeda won Junior Queen for girls 8 to 12. She also grabbed the awards for “Best Talent’’ and “Best Evening Gown’’.
“We’re all so very proud of her,’’ said Makeda’s grandmother, Grenada-born Sandra Cespedes. “Overall, the show was very good.’’
The teen competitors were in the age group 13 to 17. Arnelle Douglas, representing Trinidad & Tobago, was crowned Miss Teen Queen.
