In an effort to create an awareness of its Strategy and Management Action Plan, the Non State Actors Panel will host a project agencies conference on Wednesday, 12 March 2014 at the Trade Centre Annex.
The activity is expected to bring together representatives of a number of Grenada’s development co-operation partners, government ministries, non state actors and other invitees. There will be presentations of the NSAP “Alternative Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy and Management Action Plan” followed by a smaller working session.
Among the general objectives of the conference are:
- To build national support for the NSAP Strategy and Management Action Plan.
- To facilitate an exchange of information among the various actors about their specific programmes and projects
- To promote collaboration and co-operation between the Non State Actors Panel and other actors supporting Grenada’s development.
A statement from the NSAP said that the development of an Alternative Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy and Management Action Plan is a civil society response to the Country Poverty Assessment Report 2009. “The Strategy and Plan represent recommendations to the Government of Grenada and are also intended to inform the interventions of various civil society actors in respect of poverty reduction initiatives,” said the statement.
The Non State Actors Panel is comprised of organisations representing a wide range of sectors and interests outside of government. It was established in September 2009, fulfilling a provision of the COTONOU Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Government of Grenada which provides for the participation of civil society in policy dialogue, programming and review, related to EU development assistance.
