Sixteen years after it first hosted Telegathering in 1998, Grenada will host the 2014 edition of LIME Telegathering from 17 to 21 April under the theme ‘Rhythms of Spice’.
Telegathering (telecommunication and togetherness) will allow telecommunication workers from all 13 LIME islands — including Guyana and Trinidad — to interact and engage in recreational activities and community development. Maintenance work on the Children’s Playground in Tanteen will benefit from this year’s community event.
Chairman of the Telegathering Planning Committee Paul Sylvester, said that a major aspect of each telegathering is the community project. “For each Telegathering, delegates are asked to give back to the host country in the form of a community project. In the past we’ve refurbished schools, held health campaigns among other initiatives. This year, on Saturday, 19 April delegates visiting the island will be refurbishing the Tanteen Children’s Playground. We selected this as the community project due to the popularity among children of all ages and the playground’s dire need for maintenance and refurbishment.”
