The T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) will be hosting the University of Guyana’s Dean of Social Sciences, Dr Paloma Mohamed, on her three-day visit to the College to assess the Associate Degree in Media Studies.
This degree was jointly developed between the two institutions and to make appropriate recommendations for the programme’s enhancement. Dr Mohamed is an award winning playwright and director who has won the coveted Guyana Prize for Literature on three occasions.
She was born in Georgetown, Guyana and was educated at the University of Guyana, Harvard University and the University of the West Indies. She was Artistic Director of the highly successful Carifesta X held in Guyana in 2008. At the University of Guyana she has taught Advanced Communication Research, Advanced Broadcast, and Social Psychology. Her areas of expertise are Media in the Caribbean and Communication and Social Change.

TAMCC began offering the Associate Degree in Media Studies in January 2011 and is preparing its first cohort of students in the programme for graduation.
