Haïtian artist Presnelo is to organise workshops and an exhibition at the Alliance Française. As part of his extended visual arts and cultural residency in Grenada organised by artist Suelin Low Chew Tung, and supported by Erik Johnson of the Caribbean Art project (Cap), Presnelo has endeavoured to share his skills and talents with Grenadians.
This accomplished artist who will be celebrating 20 years in his career this year, will hold a series of 8 painting workshops for adults and children at the Alliance Française starting on Friday 23 May until Friday 11 July. The duration of the workshop will allow aspiring artists to work on a project under his guidance from start to finish.
A painter, photographer and moviemaker, Presnelo spent his residency in Grenada working on a new series of artwork, as well as gathering information to produce a short film on Henri Christophe, King of Haiti, who was born in 1767 on an estate in Grenada.
He will exhibit his Grenada-inspired creations from 23-27 June at the Alliance Française in the Villa, under the theme “Haïtian Art Week at the Alliance Française” during which two Haïtian short movies will be screened.
Details on the workshop and the exhibition can be found on the Alliance Française’s website www.afgrenade.org. For more details or to request an interview with Presnelo, write [email protected] or call 440-0984.
