The Grenada Chocolate Fest kicks off today with a visit to two cocoa estates and the opening of a Chocolate Art Exhibit at Art & Soul Gallery.
The chocolate festival is the first of its kind and will be an annual event with a week of activities that focus on chocolate and cocoa in Grenada. The chocolate festival is the brainchild of Magdalena Fielden, owner of True Blue Bay Boutique Resort, who views Grenada’s chocolate and cocoa as top quality. She believes there is great potential for this area and seeks to assist craft vendors and local farmers in reaching a wider audience.
Some of the events of the Grenada Chocolate Fest include a dinner and charity auction at Mt Cinnamon on Saturday 23 August, to raise funds to build a library for the Vendome Primary School. Workshops on chocolate, facilitated by Mexican chocolatier Ana Rita Garcia, and bazaars with local vendors featuring chocolate products and a cocoa inspired fashion show will take place at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort during the week.
