Grenadian junior tennis player Oronfo Ikolo, won his opening match on day 1 of competition in the 2014 JITIC Boys 14 and under Junior Tennis Tournament at the Salvadorian Tennis Federation tennis courts in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Ikon won his round robin match in group 1 against the Jamaican player Myles Harrison 4–0, 4–0.
He is scheduled to play against Andres Villanueva of Mexico on the second turn of matches on court 3 for first and second position in group 1, as the Mexican Villanueva has already secured a 4-2, 4-2 win over Harrison.
Forty-eight players from 15 countries in the Central American and Caribbean region are participating in the tournament. The players are divided into 16 round robin groups of 3 players each with the top 2 players qualifying after the play offs.
Ikolo registered to participate in his third and final Wilson Cotecc junior event of the 2014 summer circuit, the 2014 JITIC Boys 14 and under tennis tournament in El Salvador. Ikolo has already successfully competed in the 2014 Bahamas Junkanoo Bowl Wilson Cotecc event and the 2014 Copa Merengue Wilson Cotecc event in the Dominican Republic earlier this summer in July. He is currently Cotecc’s number one 14–and–under junior tennis player.
The Boys’ 14 and under JITIC event started Monday 18 August at the Salvadorian Tennis Federation tennis courts in San Salvador and will conclude with the finals on Saturday, 23 August .
