HURRICANE WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE STATE OF GRENADA.

Hurricane Carmen has formed from the rapidly intensifying tropical cyclone east of the Windward Islands.

About 295 miles east of Grenada and its dependencies
Maximum Sustained Winds…85 mph
Movement… west at 23 mph
Minimum Central Pressure… 992 millibars
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 130 miles.
WARNING IS IN EFFECT

Grenada and its dependencies are under a hurricane warning. A hurricane warning means that hurricane conditions are expected within Grenada and its dependencies within the next 36 hours.
HAZARDS
Â
Hurricane Carmen is expected to produce total rain accumulations between 100 and 150 millimeters. There is a high chance of flooding and landslides in areas so prone. In additional, storm surge as high as 3 feet along the east coast can produce flooding in areas where onshore flow is significant.
All concerned are advised to take measures to preserve life and property.
