The Royal Grenada Police Force informs the general public that on Friday, 7 August 2015, a report was made to the police by a 28 year old female who alleged that she was raped and indecently assaulted by a 30 year old male in the St Andrew area.

The Police carried out investigations into the matter and subsequently brought charges of Rape and Indecent Assault against a 30 year old teacher of Tivoli, St Andrew. He was taken to the Grenville Magistrate Court on Saturday, 8 August 2015, where he was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

On Thursday, 13 August 2015, he again appeared before the Magistrate at the Grenville Magistrates’ Court, where bail was granted in the sum of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00).  He is scheduled to make his third appearance in the Grenville Magistrates’ Court on 28 October 2015.

It has been brought to the attention of the Royal Grenada Police Force that several statements have been made by members of the public suggesting that the police was influenced during the course of the investigation. The Royal Grenada Police Force categorically denies these allegations and wishes to remind the general public that the Royal Grenada Police Force is an independent body and will continue to maintain its independence.
