Grenada is being represented at Routes Americas in San Juan, Puerto Rico from 17 to 19 February 2016 by a delegation which includes the Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA), Mr Rudy Grant; the Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Airports Authority (GAA), Mrs Wendy Francette–Williams; the Manager of Marketing & Properties at GAA, Mrs Cristina Joseph and Marketing Executive of the GTA, Ms Nisha McIntyre.
Now in its 9th year, Routes Americas 2016 is expected to bring together more than 700 aviation professionals, 80 airlines and 40 tourism authorities. It is specifically aimed at key players in the aviation industry from the Caribbean, North, Central and South America, providing opportunities to forge a relationship with tour operators and destination marketing organizations.
The Grenada delegation plans to engage in discussions with airlines including American Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, Delta and LIAT, as well as explore new airlift options for the destination.
According to Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority Mr. Rudy Grant, Grenada’s participation in Routes Americas provides an opportunity for a concerted focus on airlift, which is a critical success factor for the growth and development of the tourism industry. He also stated that the increase in visitor arrival numbers in 2015 was due in part to increased airlift particularly out of the USA market. Expanding airlift he commented is fundamental to the expansion of the tourism industry.
Currently, Grenada has direct airlift from various parts of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, the Caribbean and Venezuela as well as seasonal flights from Germany.
