The National Democratic Congress (NDC) takes this opportunity to express our most profound regret at the recent boating tragedy which has thrown families, relatives and friends, especially in communities in the northern region of the islands in deep mourning.
The Leader, National Executive Council and membership of the party express sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ms Makira Charles who perished in the tragedy.
Meanwhile, the party joins with rest of the nation in praying and holding on to hope, that the missing five men would be soon found and reunited with their families.
We note especially that among the missing is Kim Belfon, the brother of Former Minister of Youth and Sport and NDC St Andrew South-East Caretaker Patrick Simmons.
The NDC stands with Bro. Simmons and indeed all of the families touched by this tragedy.
St Patrick East Caretaker, Mrs Ann John, is bringing to bear her vast experience as a social worker and counselor, by offering pro bono grief counselling to the affected families.
We urge all Grenadians to hug your families a little longer, and love harder in the face of this tragedy.
