Flow CARIFTA Games All Set

Intercol has come and gone but the athletic spirit is still in the air as the Flow CARIFTA Games are set to begin today, Saturday, at the Grenada Athletic Stadium.

26 teams will be participating this year’s Carifta games including St Lucia, Aruba, Dominica, Haiti and The British Virgin Islands. The Carifta games consist of 2 categories: under-17 and under-20 and teams have already been released on the site, Grenada included. Our team was chosen based on the outstanding performances of individuals in the 2016 Intercol games. Some of the members of our team include: Amanda Crawford, Khyle Gibson, Ronnie Ollivierre and Nadia Alexander. Many are saying that they are hopeful for Grenada in the Carifta games because of the performances showcased at the Intercol games.

Amazing talents have been realized through the Carifta games and some of these people went on to be world champions. World record holder Usain Bolt (Jamaica), and Olympic Champions such as Kim Collins (St Kitts and Nevis) and Alleyne Francique all had leverage from the Carifta games.

With that, Grenada definitely needs to put its best foot forward in theses Games because we never know when the next record holder or Olympic gold medalist will emerge..
