Bishop Vincent Darius, OP

from the Conference of Churches in Grenada

The members of the Executive Committee of the Conference of Churches in Grenada heard with great sadness of the death of Most Reverend Vincent Darius O.P., the Bishop of St George’s-in-Grenada.

We have been aware of how much he has suffered in recent times and we have had him in our thoughts and in our prayers. We offer our sincere sympathy to his family, the clergy and lay faithful of the Roman Catholic Church in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Bishop Darius was a former Chairman of the Conference. His concern was the promotion of the values of the Kingdom of God. He collaborated closely with other denominational leaders in addressing issues of national concern. His special interest was in education and he was a founder member of the Grenada Association of Denominational School Boards (GADSB).

Bishop Darius maintained a warm and friendly relationship with other religious leaders and, as long as his health permitted, he was always willing to visit other churches and to welcome other pastors to the Catholic Church.

We have lost a beloved member. Our country has lost a dear son of the soil. May he rest in peace.
