The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Ecclesiastic Affairs congratulates the Grenadian athletes on their participation in the 45th CARIFTA Games which concluded at our brand new Athletics Stadium on Monday.

We extend special accolades to our medal winners including gold medalist Anderson Peters, Candesha Scott and Josh Boateng.

We are especially excited about the accomplishment of Peters who captured the coveted Austin Sealy Award after throwing the javelin at 78.28 meters to erase a record set by Trinidadian Olympic gold medalist Keshorn Walcott 5 years ago.

We urge the athletes to continue striving for excellence and remind them that the Government of Grenada will continue to provide appropriate support to their ambitions.

The Minister for Sports Hon. Emmalin Pierre also thanks everyone else, including the member of the Local Organising Committee, and all the volunteers and officials who all did an excellent job in staging a first class event.

Additionally, we are thankful to the members of the public who came out in their numbers to raise the profile of the Games with their love for track and field, a thriving sport in Grenada.
