Congratulations to our Grenadian superstar track athletes, Kirani James and Bralon Taplin, for their outstanding performances throughout the preliminaries, semifinals and final of the Olympic 400-meter race.
Grenadians in Canada, like nationals in other parts of the diaspora and at home in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, closely followed Sunday’s final, where the two Grenadians comprised one-quarter of the runners in the race. We joined the celebrations as Kirani crossed the finishing line in 43.76 second to secure the silver medal, and Bralon in 44.45 for 7th. We are extremely proud of the athletes’ achievements and commend them for keeping the Grenada flag flying so high in Rio. Congratulations, again, Kirani and Bralon.
We look forward to the performance in decathlon of Kurt Felix and his brother, Lindon Victor. We also offer our appreciation to swimmers Corey Ollivierre and Oreoluwa Cherebin and to 400-meter specialist Kanika Beckles.
Grenadians in Canada would like to thank the entire team of athletes in a tangible manner. In this regard, we extend an invitation to team members to visit Canada, where we will organize a special thank you and appreciation function in honour of Team Grenada’s Olympic track and field athletes and swimmers.
