Child Month Observance

In observance of the month of the child, many organisations and institutions affiliated with child care have released messages reinforcing child rights and the importance of caring for them.

As Grenada celebrates child month or the month of the child, the National Parenting Programme is urging parents, guardians and caregivers alike to spend quality time with their children.

They are being charged to build a solid relationship with them from an early age, to enable them to grow into responsible men and women.

The theme for this year’s observance is “Sexual Abuse is real, protect me now”.

Coordinator of the National Parenting Programme in the Division of Gender & Family Affairs of the Ministry of Social Development & Housing, Deborah Cudjoe is appealing to parents and guardians to give a listening ear to their child or children.

Ms Cudjoe stressed the importance of teachers and their role in a child’s life.

Children are also being encouraged to report any form of abuse that they may encounter, regardless of who the perpetrator may be.
