This year the St David’s carnival is being managed by a new organisation registered and endorsed by Spicemas. Virgin Parish Cultural Organisation (VPCO) in conjunction with Spicemas Corporation announces the launch of Carnival in St David on Sunday, 4 June 2017 from 5 pm.
Kelvin Jacob, Acting Chair of the VPCO Committee said the main objective of the VPCO is to revive and preserve our cultural heritage through cultural gatherings that allow performing artistes, parishioners, stakeholders and visitors to be engaged in continuous programs, and activities towards building and strengthening community spirit and relations.
The launch at the Marlmount Big Yard will be produced by Roger Williams, CEO of Grenada Acting and Film School. Admission is free.The setting will be a Carnival Village featuring Traditional Mas from Proactive Nation Builders managed by Marlene Neptune, Fancy Mas from Ignite Children’s Mas Band, calypsonians Teacher Eddie, Roots Man Kelly, Lady Cheryl, along with others. Soca Artistes Wuss Ways, Lil Lerry, Mandella Links, Leadneck, Otis, and other new and upcoming artistes from the parish. The National Queen Contestants will also make their 3rd public appearance.
