The Budget Marine Spice Island Billfish Tournament, the longest running continuous sport fishing tournament in the Southern Caribbean, returns to Grenada for another action-packed tournament from 24-28 January 2018.

Speaking at the official media launch on 29 September 2017, Organising Committee Chairman Richard McIntyre announced the launch of the Grenada Game Fishing Association (GGFA). In addition to staging the annual billfish tournament, the GGFA will encourage and develop the art of game fishing, and assist with the conservation of marine resources. Regional Coordinator of the FAO Caribbean Billfish Project, Roy Bealey, applauded the launch of the Grenada Game Fishing Association, and expressed his anticipation in partnering with the GGFA to address the challenges of sustainably managing billfish harvests in the region.

Registration is open for the 2018 Budget Marine Spice Island Billfish Tournament. Now in its 49th year, the tournament is expected to attract 250 anglers from around the region for 3 days of exciting sport fishing. As the momentum builds for the 50th anniversary, McIntyre and the Organising Committee invite everyone to come and be part of another spectacular bill fishing experience.

Visit www.sibt.gd for registration and event information.
