On Saturday, 2 December 2017 the Grenada Community Library and Resource Centre will celebrate its 3rd annual anniversary gala at True Blue Bay Resort. Our 2017 theme is ‘A Storybook Gala,’ featuring the book Hurry, Hurry it’s a Hurricane by our very own Grenadian author, Rohan Bernard.
The library was established in 2014 as a non-profit organisation due to the closure of the Grenada Public Library. Our main objective is to empower the youths of Grenada hence we have available a collection of both children’s and adults’ literature. In addition, the library offers daily literacy programmes (Education Videos, Grammar, Reading Help, Storytime, Chess Club, Art & Craft, Science Activities, Boys Book Club and an Adult Literacy Program). Over the last 3 years our membership has grown rapidly to 2600+, 70% of which are children between ages 6-12. The library is sustained by Partners for Literacy, committed special friends, and donations from Grenadians on island and in the diaspora.
You are invited to join us for an elegant evening of gourmet dishes, lively music, great giveaways and other entertainment. Tickets can be purchased at The Grenada Community Library on Lucas Street or True-Blue Bay Resort and House of Chocolate on Young Street. For more information call 435-0588 or 420-7616 or email [email protected].
Let’s ensure this great initiative continues in 2018 as we continue to build our community through, literacy love and collaboration.
