Teams of local sailors competed over 2 days to determine the 2018 ‘champion of champions’ at the Grenada Sailing Festival Westerhall White Jack Workboat Regatta, held 3-4 February.

At the end, it was Team Classic from Gouyave, which sailed away with the Republic Bank sponsored prize of US$1,000 to win the overall regatta. The winning crew won the Gouyave Sloop Class title, with their boat Classic then went on to sail the GSF16 workboat Tomorrow’s Worries, to win the Match Race final and overall championship prize for a second a consecutive year. Hats off to skipper Ted Richards and his crew!

The Grand Anse Beach is home to the regatta, which seeks to preserve and promote the boat building skills of our people. The sport requires special skills to sail and maneuver traditional workboats, and Republic Bank is pleased to continue supporting the development of our youth, through cultural preservation and sport.
