Please join Dr Steve Cushion and Denis Bartholomew for the launch of their new book “By Our Own Hands” this afternoon at 5 pm at Norton Hall. Dr Curtis Jacobs will review the book.
The book launch complements the digital exhibition organised by the Grenada Revolution Celebrations Committee (GRCC) as part of activities to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Revolution, currently at Norton Hall, Church Street, St George’s.
On Friday, there will be a panel discussion “The Grenada Revolution and its impact on Grenadian society.” Panellists include Dr Stephen Fletcher, Dr Wayne Sandiford, Chris de Riggs and Val Gordon.
The digital exhibition looks at the revolutionary years of March 1979 to October 1983, through online collections and personal archives and narratives, and touches on the Fedon Rebellion and the 1951 uprising. It will also look at initiatives begun during the revolutionary period, many of which are still in use today.
The general public is invited to bring memorabilia from the revolutionary period to display during the run of the exhibition, and to allow the items to be photographed for the Committee’s archives. The exhibition will be open every day from 11 am – 7 pm, and it suitable for schoolchildren, families, old-school music lovers and persons interested in that period of Grenada’s history.
Admission is free.
