Statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation

The public is informed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation, (under which the Grenada Airports Authority falls) working closely with the Ministry of Health and international Civil Aviation Authorities, has strictly maintained all protocols with respect to the containment of the spread of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19.)

From the very early days of the emergence of this virus, the ministry has directed the implementation of all health protocol issues to the Ministry of Health, which has been following the scientific directives of the WHO, PAHO and CARPHA.

To date, there are no confirmed cases on island, but we know our vulnerabilities and as Covid-19 spreads, we have taken proactive measures to protect Grenada.

A private jet which arrived at the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) on Friday night was subject to the standard public health inspection. The plane did not come from the People’s Republic of China or any other hotspot for Covid-19, neither did any of its passengers visit any hot spot within the last 14 days.

No one on-board exhibited any symptom of respiratory tract illness.

When the passengers disembarked, public health measures already established were strictly adhered to.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation, under which the Grenada Airports Authority (GAA) falls, continues to follow the directives of the Ministry of Health and ensures that the MBIA maintains these directives to the letter.

It is important to avoid panic and spreading rumours, which only serves to instill fear among members of the public.

You are playing dirty political games, and that’s irresponsible.
There are no deaths on the island because of the action the government has taken this should be a great credit to our prime minister. Grenadian are dying in new York in droves why not high light that instead of making policital comments that has no purpose in the present circumstances.
You don’t like the prime minister that’s fine but your comments should have made if there were negative all l see at present is a positive, no deaths, people getting better who was infected and there are no spreading of the virus at present.
Stop by spreading propaganda and report the good that’s achieve.

We’re they quarantined or are they walking among our Grenadian people.? We the Grenadian people have a right to view the flight manifesto if it’s not such a secret and it is above board. Our trust in this government is non-existent to say the least. It would be interesting to see what is the proper protocol for our Chinese,” pay to play,” citizens. If the government is giving them so much access to our tiny Haven please don’t keep the wealth for yourselves- spread it around. The islands have so many young people with six and seven subjects that are packing bags in the supermarkets. We need to have the Chinese, that are milking our people dry and paying off the guys in the government give them jobs. Mister Prime Minister since you are making them run their pockets why not volunteer to run yours for the people that you profess to love and want to take care of so much? If you start to do the right thing where your own people are concerned, you will sleep so much better at night. I don’t think that you know this, or you are just so corrupt that you might have forgotten,CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME AND WITH YOUR OWN PEOPLE. THE ones that were born on any of the three islands, not the ones that have paid for their birth certificates. Please don’t say that it’s someone else’s job to regulate the airport, everyone knows that’s not true, or are you thinking that you are a smart fly? We all know where he ended up.

Im sorry but your statement is wrong – “Among adults with moderate or severe ARDS, intravenous IFN-β-1a administered for 6 days, compared with placebo, resulted in no significant difference in a composite score that included death and number of ventilator-free days over 28 days. These results do not support the use of IFN-β-1a in the management of ARDS from COVID-19.”- JAMA. 2020;323(8):725-733. doi:10.1001/jama.2019.22525
