- Tomorrow, Friday 3 April 2020, will be a limited shopping day.
- Only grocery shops and supermarkets will open from 8 am to noon. However, The Royal Grenada Police Force advises that the major supermarkets namely; Foodland, Food Fair, Real Value, and CK’s Super Valu, remain closed.
Please be reminded that the one person per household rule is still in effect.
- Suppliers of cooking gas and other wholesale distributors will be doing deliveries.
- Businesses are reminded that no alcohol should be sold, and persons are not to consume alcohol in public.
- In order to maintain the social distancing protocol, management of shops and supermarkets are reminded to mark the 6 feet points on the outside and at the cashiers’ areas, to guide customers.
- Deco Service Center, St George; and R&R Service Station at Grand Bras, St Andrew, are allowed to be open to facilitate refuelling vehicles of essential workers, not the general public.
- Persons are reminded that curfew is still in effect, and as a result, one must move purposefully to and from shopping.
The general public can report persons in violation of the regulations by calling 440-3999 or 911.
The Royal Grenada Police Force apologies for any inconveniences caused.

I absolutely agree with the mandatory curfew, I am hoping it will make our more reckless citizens catch themselves. After seeing the long line at IGA I get why supermarkets were on the closed list. Yet I for one can only access some of my dietary needs at IGA for sure, or Gittens if I am lucky. With kidney disease a staple of my diet, a small canned whole food drink.
With the 3 day restricted shopping cycle it seems to me queues are being created unnecessarily, were it to be five short days per week the bunching up would most likely be less. Plus as far as I know there is no shortage of petrol so why cause vehicles to be compromised so that people end up having to use the restricted buses.
Grenada has implemented some of the best practices, and all credit to the Government for being pro active, and trying to regulate the foolish, but in MHO there needs to be a small dial back.
I can see Foodland from my door. The floor is marked for social distance. I can get everything I need. However, I cannot because they are not open. So, I walk to a local market that has very little. Frozen meat and junk food. We wait outside in a pack of people for 1.5 hours. Purchased very little of what we needed. Seems backwards. Just one man’s opinion.
I am very happy that our government is taking this threat seriously. And this lockdown is NECESSARY. However, the current actions regarding shopping are counterproductive and doing more harm than good. Why are the large supermarkets not allowed to open?? They were enforcing social distancing very efficiently. What we have now is an entire population crowding together in long lines in the hot sun to enter small poorly ventilated stores who cannot even supply the basic needs that keep us healthy. I dont care for alcohol, but fresh fruit and vegetables are essential. I need gluten free products, some people have other needs such as diabetics and lactose intolerant people. Basic needs like pet foods are also not available. What you are creating is mass gatherings and the thing you have been asking us not to do: Panic Buying! People are afraid of again being given very little notice of government decisions and are panic buying. But can you imaging what will happen when the big supermarkets do open again?? More and more panic buying. People will hoard all the things that they cannot currently access in their small local stores. Come on GOVT, cant you see that you are creating a huge problem here? Open your eyes! You are harming the very people that you are trying to protect. Keep the lockdown, keep up the curfews, protect our nation, but stop denying us the basic essentials needed for health and wellbeing.
I think the state of emergency is good for a little country like Grenada..However the local shops do not have the basic things that people need.No fruit no fresh vegetables ect
It’s a waste of time going to these shops and why are we not allow to buy a reason amounts of alcohol .How dear the Government tell us that we connot have a drink in our home.
This is going too far
Be safe everyone and God bless
Alcohol is not essential
It is very hard to get around and how will I carry heavy shopping? I have problems with my joints. There is no fresh food in the local shops, No Kale, Squash not even a Banana!
How can we stay healthy on bad food?
No Alcohol, Why is this not allowed?
There needs to be some relaxing of these rules so that mothers can feed their families good healthy food, help get to and from the supermarket, food is heavy to carry, having a drink and relaxing helps people cope with the misery of this pandemic
Got caught out on Monday due to too short notice. I have got just enough fuel to get to Grenville and I don’t even know if I have enough fuel to drive home. Yet I cannot buy gas!!!
How do I get past this predicament?
I agree with the lockdown but this is not fully thought out.
Please please be safe everyone and do not exhaust the RGPF by breaching yhe social distance protocol.. Help keep our nation healthy…. God bless. GRENADA and GRENADIANS everywhere.. God bless our Honourable leader Dr. Mitchell.
GRPF THANK YOUFOR THE GREAT JOB IN KEEPING US SAFE.
