- Man and his family who are UK nationals, boarded an Air Canada flight before start of 24-hour mandatory curfew
- Decision was unknown to health authorities in Grenada
- Departure in violation of the Public Health Act
Health authorities have confirmed that one of Grenada’s nine Covid-19 confirmed patients has sneaked out of the country on an international flight.
He is one of 2 people who sat within close proximity to the index patient who arrived on a flight from the United Kingdom on 16 March 2020.
“We have information that one person left with their family,” said Dr George Mitchell who is the Coordinator of the Covid-19 Response Committee. Speaking as a virtual guest on the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) daily “To-the-Point” programme, he said that the man left the island with his wife and child. He did not say when the man departed.
All persons tested positive for Covid-19, are placed in home quarantine once the symptoms are displayed. This is in keeping the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines for home quarantine. They are required to keep in contact daily with the relevant health authorities.
Dr Mitchell, who is the immediate former Chief Medical Officer, did not provide details about the man on the programme, but research later revealed that the man’s decision was unknown to health authorities in Grenada. It is understood that the man and his family who are UK nationals, boarded an Air Canada flight before the start of the 24-hour mandatory curfew.
Grenada has accommodated several international airlines to arrive at the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) only for outgoing passengers mainly to Canada and the United States. There was an Air Canada flight on 24 March and one on 31 March. Grenada began the mandatory curfew on 30 March.
Dr Mitchell said that since this particular Covid-19 patient sneaked out, his local contact tracing has been robust. “It’s detective work,” he said. As a result of the departure of the patient which was in violation of the Public Health Act, Grenada’s current Covid-19 count stands at 8.
The index case, who is a 50-year-old female, infected 5 other family members who according to Dr Mitchell, are recovering.
Ignorant Idiot…the virus started in Wuhan, China….where they sell alive and dead animals to eat, such as bats. They did not report the virus for months, allowing people to fly between China and the US and other countries, spreading the virus. China is also the country where they boil dogs alive and laugh while the poor things try to escape their torture. Dont blame the US and dont EVER ask us for help, ever!!!
PS my comment is for Jack
Say what you want about China. meanwhile, Americans are so disgusting that they spread the virus in record time – so much so that the US has the most positive cases in the world. Americans are G R O S S.
The man should’ve been placed in quarantine as soon as he was identified as being exposed.
Greg MD you sound a bit confused. In your opening sentence you said…placing Exposed….after they became symptomatic is not effective…
Then you said …quarantined IF. EXPOSED…
Ok ..chose a point and be clear about it. Cause the very thing u mentioned that isn’t effective IS the same think u suggesting..
And…yes they ARE doing contact tracing..
Next..topic….
With all of the residents of the world at stake this takes outrageous gall and stupidity to act so callously against his fellow man .I can only hope he is arrested and does serious time for his was a conscious act of violence against every man ,woman and child for his complete disregard of us all !
Lots of lies and deception. After all “Third-world” leaders are out of the loop as to what is really going on. In fact, people cannot handle the truth and neither are governments equipped to deal with the real fall-out if the truth was known. There is no Covid 19 virus or however you want to refer to it.
We are all mostly dead and just waiting to be shovelled in our mass graves.
Placing exposed or tested positive individuals in isolation only after they become symptomatic is not effective in limiting spread of the COVID-19 virus. Asymptomatic individuals carrying the virus are spreading the infection to others. Grenada’s curfew will not be effective unless all individuals identified through contact tracing are immediately quarantined if exposed, whether or not they are displaying symptoms and tested. If the testing is negative, isolation may be reconsidered, but if positive, they must remain in isolation and monitored format least two full weeks. The government must change its policy and practice immediately or our efforts will be for naught!
If only the rest of the world could be cut off from the United Shithole of America
m the UK also?
Where is the temperature testing that is supposed to be happening at airports (including Grenada). More lies we are being told.
What does the US have to do with this story? This was a British national
Maybe y’all should stop the analysis paralysis and get this guy’s name on here so we can track him down and have him arrested.
