Two Grenadian fishermen missing at sea for over 3 weeks have been rescued by the US Coast Guard.
The men, Kevin Phillip, 26 years, Fisherman, of La Poterie, St Andrew and Shabba Richardson, 37 years of Paradise, (St Andrew) were picked up about 80 nautical miles south of the Dominican Republic on Saturday, 23 May 2020.
Phillip and Richardson left Grenada during the first week in May with a fishing vessel en route to Carriacou and reportedly ran into difficulties with their boat engine. They were last heard from on 6 May.
Both men are currently housed at the US Dominican Republic Naval Base Quarantine Field Hospital.

Many things in the island are overlooked… Fishermen, farmers, domestic workers and last but least the hospital.
Not to SEITCH The subject, but how do you give patients in the general hospital BREAD AND MILO TEA FOR BREAKFAST.
Great news that the men have been rescued. But Grenada does need to tighten safety regulations on fishing & boating. Despite all that has happened I’m glad the men were rescued safely.
The coast guard ,the fire men,the ambulance, all these need to look into, thes people do not understand their jobs in grenada as a grenadian ,i think they need better training. I thank god they found alive..I’m glad they wasn’t on Venezuela waters else it would be silence ..thank you..
Thank God they were found alive and did not share the same outcome as others before. With the understanding that at any given time an engine failure can occur, however, may this serve as a reminder for more needed safety measures/ checks/ proper protective equipments etc to be put in place for hopefully quicker rescue results…Bless….
Why the anger can we not be happy they were found. You don’t know the circumstances but if it were your brother think about how you would feel. Coast guard has assisted many times with rescues. Economy is hard especially now and it would be good if they had radios but if their engine was bad and they did not have money for that I believe they may not have money for much else . Thinking of feeding your family or yourself sometimes clouds your judgement. Praise God during this time of so much death and despair we hear of two lives making it
#FACT ..GOD BLESS YOU FOR THESE WORDS …ITS REAL WHAT YOU STATED HERE…GOD SEEN THEM THROUGH AMEN AND NO MATTER HOW TRAINED OR UNTRAINED PROFESSIONAS MEDICAL STAFF SEARCH AMD RESCUE CREW ARE SOME CIRCUMSTANCES CALLS FOR GOD TO WORK IT OUT. AMEN .IN THIS CASE IT WAS GOD ..THANK YOU JESUS FOR #REMAINING CLOSE NEAR AND BY THROUGH IT ALL AMEN
Amazing
This how God shows his power. Anything could have happen.
Let the name of the Lord be praise.
TO THE HIGHEST AMEN THANK YOU OUR HEAVENLY FATHER FOR ALL YOU DO FOR ALL OF US LAND AND SEA AMEN
Real ignorant talk.. No one make mention of Grenada coast guard! What’s they duties? To sit in port and whenever a distressed call is relayed they don’t have gas.. Criteria, 5 miles radius, where can they purchase a proper radio and if where’s the base..
Ypur comment tells me how ignorant ypu are!
Mr . Solo,I was getting ready to say you are heartless and wicked but my inner soul says that you are more deeply informed than the average concerned Grenadian so for now I’ll lockdown my uninformed opinion, however, regardless of the circumstances we still need to be Our brothers keeper.
I’m happy that they’re safe and sound. You always hear about the horrible outcomes and rarely of the miracles. Praise God!
Nothing change with some of our fishermen as they are not suitable equipped to be allowed licence to fish more than 5 miles radius of the island .
The government has to make it mandatory that in order to obtain a fishing licence they must meet certain criteria which should include proper radio and cell phone and survival kit.
Which fisherman ? Let them talk the truth. Leave them out there. Tax payers money can not pay to have them return… stupes
