No Sympathy from me.
They are now trying to safe face and to influence the jury or the courts be it as hard as they main.
This video is scripted and tutored. It is an idea of their attorney to gain public support.
They had best to face the courts, then pack up and leave Grenada.
Our Government is responsible for such disrespect and disregard that is shown to Grenadians, by citizenship by investment investors who come to Grenada. Most if not all, of these citizens, who have come from the Asian, Syrian, Russian, Germany, South Africa and Americans have nothing but total disrespect for the native Grenadians.
Money talk. In this video, you could see that it is money that is talking.
Only those Grenadians who have not resided in Europe or American or any other non-Africa Diaspora country would fall for this fake apology.
Only those who have forgotten their historical journey would fall for this fake apology.
‘White man speaks with a forked tongue’.
Descendents of white Europeans could never feel what we the Children of the African Diaspora have historical felt and still feels in contemporary times. Why not? Because from inception, they have not to walk in our shoes. And they never will. It is a superiority inferior race complex historical journey from Slavery to the Plantacroacy, to Colonialism, to contemporary citizenship by investment.economy. Should one research and analyse ancient to contemporary history, one would discover that the thinking behind the historical philosophy is the same. It is Capitalism and Slavery all over again.
There may be some fellow Grenadians who will dismiss this comment as being racist. I do not mind that’s their choice. However, the spirit of enlightenment will always liberate the blind whose quest, vision and inspiration it is to walk in the light.
Let the court decide. To not be fooled by this staged managed display of an apology.
What the Irishman says is entirely true. Grenada would be a far better place if there were more high net worth individuals locating there, paying taxes and bringing their wealth of wisdom and entrepreneurial spirit to the island for the benefit of all.
Admittedly the vast majority of them would inevitably be white but that would only serve to enhance our diversity in the same way that the influx of thousands of Afro Caribbean people has surely enhanced the diversity of culture in London….
Well Said; excellent points made.
Diversity of cultures would go far to further the future growth of Grenada. That would also help in stabilizing the hospitality along with the business climate locally.
Yeh but they don’t want us there
Anyone from any country can come and settle in Grenada, but please do not come with the intention that you can treat us as your former slaves.
Stop acting like it then.
please Grenadians, look at this video for what it is, rehearsed, script prompted of a teleprompter, with no emotions, white privileged people, I have bo sympathy for them or for the loss of their dog and they are not in Ireland where they originate from so should not be able to manipulate you in your own background, can you imagine if this incident happened to you as a Grenadian in Ireland, it would certainly be a different outcome and I am sure you as a Grenadian will either be locked up or thrown out of their country Ireland. Come on Grenadian people and Govt, please stand up for your country and rights, dont let these people pull the wool over your eyes, wake up to whats happening and resolve this situation, send them back to where they come from, why not, we have been and still get told those same words everyday of our lives so time to use their own words back on them, Get out if Grenada and go home, Simple. Grenada all the way, please dont let yourselves down!!! Be proud, We are Grenadians, Who are they????
So true my friend, u still have some uncle Tom’s on here begging and looking for white sympathy
This most likely flared up with faults by both sides. When the temper gets the better of people, emotions get heated. If my dog was killed by a speeding driver, I too would be angry, very angry.
The Racism tones do not at all belong here. Case needs to be tried in Court.
As to the intentional put – down of this Couple’s scripted and / or read Statement from a Teleprompter. I really doubt they were using such a device.
Public Statements by Politicians usually use Teleprompter and are scripted, rehearsed comments. I point that out most likely the tone and delivery style of PM Mitchell’s speeches. Face color is not then the reason behind this behavior.
Thus scripted speeches have just little to do if they are White or he Black.
I do not believe racism played any part in this incident.
Banish these disgusting mongrels! If they had any sincere remorse, they would speak from the heart. Not some rehearsed statement drafted by their lawyer, and ran through a teleprompter. This certainly doesn’t help their case! Decisions in cases like these set a precedence for future situations. Grenadian leaders, don’t let us down. Stand for your people and don’t encourage our own dehumanization. Grenadian citizens all over the world are watching…
Stupes… move there with this stupidness. Adding insult to injury.
Absolutely!
I’m not here to defend the actions of Mr Kavanagh. He needs to defend his own actions only to a judge in a court of law, and it is only a judge in that court who will be qualified to hand down any punishment to him. The point I would like to address is the sentiment of history and the terrible history of so many coloured people here in the Caribbean. Please please please look at your history, and for a moment acknowledge that black people from Africa are not the only peoples in history who have been subjected to terrible treatments and conditions.
Mr Kavanagh is of Irish decent. It could be argued that through the 17-19th centuries the Irish were treated far worse than blacks, where the British were trying to breed the Irish out of Ireland. In the new world, they were brought also as slaves (so too the Scottish – Anyone heard of the concept of Prima Nocta). Man, when wealthy and in possession of great land assets has always had a tendency to treat other men very poorly/cruelly when they are able to, and this has been true right from the age of the Sumerians, the Babylonians, the Egypytions, Greeks, Romans, Mayans, Incan and Aztecs and the Nubians. All of these ‘great’ civilizations saw the subjugation or slavery of another man as normal.
So my point, is not to demean slavery or play down its effects. Merely to highlight that if we look back far enough (or recent enough – slavery is still alive and well in Libya, Tunisia and Algeria) then we will probably find that all of us can trace our ancestry to a people who were owned, ill treated, enslaved or treated as inferior human beings. History is a fascinating subject, and we can learn so much about ourselves from our past. We can choose to hold onto past dealt injustices and we can choose to build a new paradigm, but we can’t choose to re-write our history to suit our current narrative.
Stupes… No matter where whites have gone they’ve treated the native people like second class citizens, don’t let history repeat itself my people
Don’t rush to judgement, internet hero. Let the Grenadian court of justice and the Grenadian magistrate find the truth.
Nonsense. Emotional response. What you did by removing the key from Mr. Smith’s vehicle was to unlawfully detain him. In effect you held him against his will thereby kidnapping him. We. We whom. Yes you are allowed to reside in Grenada, but you’re not a citizen. Even if you were then you would be a citizen by naturalization through your wealth. Nothing else. You broke the law at least twice. The Dow was without a restraint which is illegal. Then you stole the man’s vehicle keys and proceeded to physically assault him. Be real.
If what is now being said by massa Donald and Ms Sarah is as it was then who did the ABH to Mr Smith ? also why are they keep showing the burial grave of the dog and are they hoping that the dog might come back and be a witness in the case for the accused also why did massa Donald made mention of the witness to of truth and have these two men been summoned as witnesses for the defence , lord things is getting hot in Greenz even with no carnival this year it is still Baccarnal in Town with them lawyers rubbing their hands .
A couple of things:
– They read from a legal statement with no emotion or
remorse. There is a clear hint of ego that alludes that they believe they are being vilified. Extremely problematic.
– Within the video they acknowledge to initiating the escalation of the event yet mask it as “an emotional response.” That does not hold up in court hence the reason they created this video. They need the public to make judgement in order to manipulate a response. Be careful.
– Their appeal was within the context of “peaceful resolution” without acknowledging the deeper social context within which the event occurred. At no point did they speak to how they as a white couple, whose citizenship or opportunity to love and work in a country not their own, could be perceived. In their mind, they are just as Grenadian, save for, the millions they’ve had accessed to in their lifetime that the average Grenadian cannot fathom ever having. The failed to acknowledge their privilege. They want to appear as normal. Deeply, deeply troubling.
– They reason for outreach to the police has no legal basis, therefore it would have benefitted them to also acknowledge that. However, they tactfully used “peaceful resolution” as justification. Their dog died because of their error as captured within the law. What is the basis for any resolution- peaceful or otherwise?
– It is clear that the statement forced them to remain partial and not show any form of responsibility least it is used against them in court.
This is a legal ploy. It is the right of any legal advisor or lawyer to represent their client within the best legal “light” thats afforded to them.
What we need acknowledged with respect to the legal process that underscores this particular situation is that these folks were the aggressors. Emotion or not, they should be held accountable for taking the law into their own hands over a matter where its is clear legally that they were at fault.
Their untethered dog ran into a street and was killed by a moving vehicle. Imagine a situation where their untethered dog ran into a street and caused the death of a person, would it then be within the right of the family of that now dead person to take justice into their own hands and target that couple?
I also ask that you do not forget how our people of color and of culture were lynched legally and illegally by white people in many countries outside of Grenada and that our ancestors were taken from their homes in Africa as slaves and convinced to move from impoverished communities from Asia to work on a land that is now our Greenz.
The law didn’t serve our people of color for most of our history. Remember this!
My fellow Grenadians – I ask that you continue on your march and protests for justice. So not allow the law to be manipulated for the very fact that every person has a right to representation. Talk to your friends who are personally attached to the situation and encourage them to speak the truth.
My apologies for the typos!
I am a bit puzzled. Please help me out here someone. So tell me. Mr Smith, did he beat himself up and burst up his own lip????
