The Government of Grenada is cognisant of the many Grenadian nationals abroad wishing to return to Grenada, as well as others who are eager to visit our shores.
As the pandemic has worsened in major source markets, such as the United States, the government has put in place additional safety measures to ensure that we protect the health of Grenadians at home, and that we continue to successfully guard against the virus on our shores.
In view of this, the initial 1 July date indicated for the commercial reopening of Grenada’s borders had to be postponed because of the heightened risks seen in some major source markets. We also had to secure our domestic capacity to mitigate against any increased spread of the virus resulting from incoming passengers.
The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has been in contact with the management of the airlines and other stakeholders, as we plan for a smooth and secure process, when borders are eventually reopened. Flights and schedules will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
The reopening process takes into consideration the health risks possibly posed by passengers coming from different regions of the world.
Countries will be categorised as Low, Medium or High risk, for the purposes of entry requirements to Grenada.
- From 15 July 2020, the airport will accept commercial flights from countries across the Caribbean region, viewed as Low risk.
- From 1 August, the airport will accept international flights, from countries listed as Medium risk, such as Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries in the European Union.
- Only chartered flights will be accommodated from all other countries not mentioned, until further notice.
Grenadian Nationals and visitors wishing to charter a flight from any country, in the interim, must do so through a private entity. Government has accepted a proposal from Caribbean International Trade Inc., to manage all the logistics of this engagement, including the verification of the health and testing requirements, and quarantine accommodations.
Grenada’s diplomatic missions abroad will continue to provide information, document requests, and keep a database of Nationals and anyone seeking to travel to Grenada, but the missions will direct everyone to the managing agency for all coordination of chartered flights, such as bookings and requirements for entry.
All information related to health, testing and quarantine entry requirements for travel can be obtained through Grenada’s diplomatic missions and tourism offices abroad; as well as from Caribbean International Trade Inc. at email: [email protected] and telephone numbers: 349 379-1922 or 473 415-0551.
Information can also be found on the Ministry of Health’s website covid19.gov.gd.
The Government of Grenada continues to encourage everyone to exercise extreme vigilance in daily activities, so as to safeguard health and save lives during this pandemic.

What is going to happen to those SGU students abroad? They are a big part of the economy in Grenada. Can the government not have them quarantine like other islands are doing?
I am suppose to fly to Grenada Oct 6, 2020 from Florida
Is it even realistic to think that will happen??
Any factual information would be helpful
Thank you !!
So I went on website on Grenadas Covid website they listed above. No up to date information on it. I called the two phone numbers listed numerous times today. One doesn’t work the other nobody answers. What an embarassment. You would think after all this time somebody would of figured this out. Why not make everyone have an up to date Covid test 72 hours in advance of arriving in Grenada. Have a website where we can upload our test results. Fill out our Immigration paperwork online and when we arrive take out temperature. Everything is good then away you go. No need to quarantine.
I have read comments and I am very concerned about my up coming trip in November.
I cannot afford to be stranded in Grenada.
It’s simple, put a protocol in place like other Caribbean islands did.
Require testing BEFORE boarding the plane to Grenada. This way the burden is not all on the receiving side. In Grenada upon arrival test AGAIN. This way Maurice Bishop could open up to all flights from anywhere, including commercial flights. Why different measures for different locations in the world? It only complicates procedures. Also the UK is on the list and the USA not? That does not make sense at all. They are both hotspots, but then states like NY & NJ have it under control, the rest of the USA far from it.
That’s why I would say one strict protocol for all countries of origin. This so Grenadians and visitors can plan their lives and travel again. Right now you can not plan anything.
You make alot of sense sir.
The reason that they allow the UK to travel but not the US is because US airlines refuse to require testing before boarding. US airlines refuse to comply by Grenada’s standards for safety so US airlines won’t be permitted to fly to Grenada. Get mad at the airlines, Grenada is simply trying to keep their citizens safe.
It has been known for quite a while there aint no virus on the island of grenada however I am a citizen of the United Kingdom and have been stuck here since march 1st .
The United Kingdom send two chartered flights then turn their back on the rest that stuck here in grenada and the rest of the Caribbean.
Yes grenada is the safest place to be at this present time but still we have choices.
This isn’t up to government to choose our lives.
We all got family which kneeds attended to but through these situations makes it impossible to move.
Kith Mitchell was supposed to open the airport in July so people can return to their every day lives but he and his culprits decied they will keep the place lock down so they can keep getting free money.
I am not saying what they did was a bad idea but at list make reservations for people abroad and people here who wish to return to their destinations .
Were you shafted by CTM & the FCO on the repatriation flights too John doe? We’re still trying to find out why the 3rd flight never went. Yes Minister dealing with the FCO, our MP is getting bull**it from them too
I live in North Carolina, my daughter, is stuck in grenada since march, there are grenadians living abroad and the ones that lives in grenada stuck in the US and other places, what the grenadian government needs to do is reopen the airport so, they can return to their homes and close the airport down after all grenadians stranded is back to my place of residence, so we don’t have to go back and forth about this virus, we all been patient, the government should keep they word and do what they say they going to.
I visit Grenada every year to come and see family and friends. Since I live in New York this year I chose to stay home and protect myself and this beautiful island I call a second home. This Pandemic is no joke we have to see the bigger picture. Many people want or need to be home but in the same breath they also need to keep everyone in their family safe from this virus that you can’t see or feel until it’s to late. I pray that everyone will find they way home wherever they are. The US is not doing much to control the outbreak people are acting as if nothing is wrong.
I too visit Grenada for a couple of months each year…yes, lucky me
My trips are May and Sept, given the current situation, I chose not to visit in May. I have watched and waited the situation on a daily basis. It is with a heavy heart I have now decided against my trip in September.
My heart is in my Grenadian home along with so many special family and friends made over a period of 40years.
My concern is for Grenada, it’s people and the possible infection from visitors from around the world.
Of course I understand how important tourism is to the island and it’s economy but for me #staysafe #savelives
As a US citizen I’ve been living here for nine years and I feel much safer here.,this is a small island and when people from all over the world come you run a great risk of infection ,yes I need to go back due to my health condition to see all my specialist, but I’m staying put l relize it hard for families to be separated better separated alive than in death.Grenada is not equipped to take care of hundreds of sick people if they need to be hospitalized. Its hard for the world condition as some people don’t care to protect them selves or others looks to me some feel they are invincible. All the best to the ones that want to be safe take care of yourself and the ones you love.
Grenada needs to follow Aruba. Aruba has their sh!t together.
Grenada should allow travel to and from other countries that have their sh!t together. But USA is not one of them.
